Communications is my vocation, not just a job. This passion is complemented by many years of experience and strategic know-how and forms the basis of my professional life. My guiding principles are quality, ethical conduct and the will for dialogue.
I started my career in the communications sector in the early 1980s as a communications consultant, agency manager and Managing Director at Agentur Pubrel, later Pubrel Hill & Knowlton. Ten years later, I decided to start my own business – at first on my own as CKC, Christian Kollmann Communications. I merged my business with that of Meta Raunig-Hass and Peter Menasse into communication matters in 1999. Meanwhile, I run the agency together with my business partner Dagmar Hemmer. In addition to my job as Agency CEO, I have also been active in a leading role at the Public Relations Association Austria (PRVA) for 10 years (two years as President, eight years as a board member), held lectures and gave presentations at the Universities of Vienna and Salzburg, as well as at Danube University Krems. At present, I am working for the Austrian Ethics Council for PR and am Chairman of the international agency network ECCO, headquartered in London.

The combination of public relations and political issues is what characterises my CV. Following my degree in history and politics, I started my professional career in politics-related fields; firstly, as a research staff member at the Austrian Association for Political Consulting and Development (ÖGPP). The following years I worked as a parliamentary assistant at the Austrian Parliament and, simultaneously, as the assistant to the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) Party Secretary, Mag. Andrea Kuntzl. This was followed by a six-year stint at Ecker & Partner, three years of which were as the Head of the Municipal Affairs and Institutions Unit. In 2009, I joined communication matters. I have been running the agency together with Christian Kollmann as a partner since 2012.

Change will not come if we wait for the perfect situation or moment. Those who want to be part of political and social developments have to be active, face confrontations and need clear objectives. Therefore, the very essence of my work is strategic consulting and content-related planning of participation. I base my activity on integrity, honesty and responsibility.
Ramona Zmolnig, MA
I started my professional career during my studies of Political Science and Romance Philology working in the communications department of the Austrian Parliamentary Administration. After three years I left the administrative level for a new position as a policy advisor and parliamentary staff member, where my main areas of expertise were security and women’s policy.
Since graduation I have maintained close contact with the academic field. My research focuses on corruption as well as framing and I regularly present my results to the scientific community at conferences or in publications. Furthermore, I worked as a lecturer at the FH Campus Vienna, University of Applied Sciences and am currently teaching at the University of Vienna. In January 2018, I joined the Public Affairs Team at communication matters.

Communication is the key to understanding complex societal interrelations. As a Public Affairs consultant it is important to be able to look at things from different point of views – political, economic and societal – and to have a strong sense of responsibility.
Mag.a Anna Jonas, M.A.I.S.
I have been interested in politics, economics, law and communications for my whole adult life. Studying Political Science and International Affairs as well as completing my training in Public Relations and Public Affairs provided me with a solid foundation for my work as a Public Affairs consultant. My passion for International Affairs and Public Diplomacy motivated me to go abroad – I have worked in Iran and Israel, as well as in the United States, namely at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. At communication matters my work focuses on Government Relations, Strategic Consultancy as well as Stakeholder Management.

You live and learn, which is why I always approach new tasks with a lot of curiosity and dedication. After graduating from high school it was my curiosity that led me to study Journalism and Public Communications in Graz. Here I learned how to communicate professionally from scratch. In 2011 I moved to Vienna in order to pursue another interest of mine – Political Science, which I studied at the University of Vienna.

Successful communications require a profound analysis of the given situation and a strategic approach based on this analysis. Well begun is half done.

Already during my school education I was interested in political processes. In addition to my studies in Political Science at the University of Vienna, I worked in various companies and institutions in the health sector for several years. Since January 2019, I have been supporting the public relations team at communication matters as a consultant and I have been able to gain a lot of insights into PR, especially media work as well as event organization by working on the project “Wiener Töchtertag”.

My previous work experience has been characterised by a profound interest for politics, law, and communication. I started my professional career already as student during my degrees in Transcultural Communication (University of Graz) and Diplomacy and Foreign Policy (City, University of London). My passion for international relations and languages motivated me to go abroad on several occasions. After a lengthy stay in France, I supported the team at the Austrian Embassy and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Brussels. I then spent almost three years in London, where I worked, among others, as Public Affairs Officer for the public body Sport England. In March 2021, I joined the public affairs team at communication matters.

I have been enthusiastic about the media and politics ever since I was a teenager. Therefore, I decided to study journalism and communication as well as political science at the University of Vienna. After completing my master’s degree, I worked at APA DeFacto GmbH in the field of media monitoring for three and a half years. Since February 2021 I have been supporting the PR team at communication matters as a junior consultant.

The interdependence of economics and politics have fascinated me since school, especially the interaction between the national and European level and the communication about it in the public space. That’s why I decided to study economics and politics at the University of Kent and political science at the University of Vienna. Since January 2021, I have been supporting the public affairs and public relations team at communication matters.

My world is centred on numbers. They help me create the organisational and economic basis on which the creative energy at our agency can unfold.
Back Office - on maternity leave
I graduated from business school in 2009. I then discovered that I had a keen interest in numbers when I worked in the health sector. As a result, I started a course at the Wifi Institute in Vienna to train as a certified accountant and personnel accountant in 2012. In my position at the Vienna-based marketing agency pi-five, I was able to use my new skills to the full. I enjoy working in the agency business – and have had the privilege of living that dream at communication matters since 2014, where I can support the team as an accountant and assistant.
